Welcome to My Personal Page & Story !
Dear Family & Friends,
It’s that time of year again!
This summer will mark 2 years since my brain tumour removal and the start of my Cushing’s disease recovery. Because of this disease, like everyone affected by any form of brain tumour, my life has forever been changed.
Many people are quick to feel sorry for me but I can honestly say, I am thankful for my struggles, because without them, I would have never stumbled upon my strengths. Cushing’s disease, the diagnosis, the surgery and the treatment is not a fast fix. I am continuing to learn this even today. Just because the tumour is removed doesn’t mean we are healed and cured of this disease. For many, it is a life long recovery.
As of today, I am happy to report overall I am FINALLY feeling and looking like my old self again. It has been a lot of hard work but my good days are outweighing my bad days and I remind myself daily of all the things I can now do and all the things I am thankful for. This whole process has made me a stronger and more patient person and it has allowed me to look at life in a whole new way. I appreciate my life. My family. My friends. My job. My talents. My strengths. My patients. And most importantly, my body, mind and overall health.
I constantly think about other people going though similar situations and have made it my mission to be there for as many people going through similar situations as I had no one to lean on when I was going through this. By being someone to talk to. By being someone to listen. By being someone to provide some hope and encouragement to. By being someone to validate what someone else may be feeling and to most importantly just make a new friend has been both therapeutic to my recovery and extremely rewarding.
This year I am not just walking for myself and my family, who have continued to support me along this journey, but I am walking for / WITH so many of my new Cushing’s friends. I am so honored to be asked to start a team and to walk along side the strongest people I’ve ever met. On top of walking with my family and friends I recently was selected to be this years Ambassador for Toronto’s 17th Annual Brain Tumour Walk.
With your donations we can help raise money for research, support programs, advocacy, awareness and HOPE for those fighting and living with brain tumours.
If you would like to walk with me, please register yourself as well.
Thank you for your love and continued support.
