As many of you know, I was recently operated on January 27th to remove a 4mm benign tumour from my pituitary gland. Although benign, brain tumours can cause many negative symptoms throughout the whole body. They diminish the quality of life for an individual. Mine caused what is known as Cushing's Disease and it rapidly ruined me. Although it physically ruined me, it showed me how much strength I truly have. I've learned so much about myself despite the hardships of this disease. I know there are so many people suffering with the similar disease I went through, and people with even worse tumours. Now that I am on a long journey to getting better, I want to give back.
As some of you know, one of my goals after surgery was to raise awareness and money for brain tumour research. It is time to reach my goal.
I'm part of the movement to end brain tumours and I hope you'll join me in this Canada-wide effort to put a stop to this disease.
Saturday, June 3rd I will be joining my friend Danielle, a Cushing's survivor, and other Cushing's survivors in an effort to raise awareness on brain tumours and donate money to research and programs that will bring information and support for brain tumour patients and their loved ones. We are the Cushing's Crew! Check out our team page through the link on the right-hand side of this page in the blue block above :)
Thank you for supporting me, and more importantly, for helping the 55,000 Canadians who live with a brain tumour today.
