Thank you so much to all of you who have already support me! Nearly $9500 for Brain Cancer Research and Assistance, in less than a month is amazing, we have now raised the 4th most as an individual accross the country as we race to collectively reach $1.3 million. Your support means so much to me. As a result of your generosity there will be no little 10km run on August 27, I will do an Olympic Triathlon, going into water for the first time since I last did a triation 10 years ago, months before my original diagnosis! The date of the event is just before I start my new round of Chemo (and in memory of my Grandma's birthday). But there’s more…
While an Olympic Triathlon will be done, when (not if) we reach $10,000, I will also do a 100km in 48 hour run across central Alberta that week!
When my Brain Cancer was discovered 10 years ago, there was no developed treatment for me, let-alone three decades earlier when my tumour first developed. However, through my involvement with, then experimental, surgical methods and medical treatments, today I play beach volleyball with university students half my age, publish papers on my behavioural research and live a wonderful life with my amazing family.
I may no longer be able to be a University Professor, but I know I live an easy life, and this events allows me to help those who will be diagnosed with Brain Cancer tomorrow, and hopefully allow those who are diagnosed next decade, to have that diagnosis accompanied by an explanation of the treatment that will cure them!
